Nikolaus is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Yale University interested in relations between the “Second World” and the “Third World” during the Cold War. His current research focuses on the Soviet Union and Ethiopia. Before coming to Yale, Nikolaus graduated from Harvard University with a Master’s Degree in Regional Studies: Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia. His first peer-reviewed article is “Cooperation and Control at the Micro Level of Soviet Internationalism: Moscow’s Lumumba University, 1960-1970.” (Demokratizatsiya: The Journal of Post-Soviet Democratization 30, no. 3 (2022): 357–91).
