Masha Salazkina is Professor of film studies at Concordia University, Montreal. She is the author of In Excess: Sergei Eisenstein’s Mexico (2009), World Socialist Cinema (2023), and, most recently, Romancing Yesenia (2024). She is coeditor of Sound, Speech, Music in Soviet and Post-Soviet Cinema (2015), Global Perspectives on Amateur Film Histories and Cultures (2022), and Teaching Migration in Literature, Film and Media (forthcoming, 2025). She is currently coediting a volume on cinemas of global solidarity, a special issue of Feminist Media Historiographies on developmentalism, media and gender, and, with Usha Iyer, working on a book about Boney M.
