Ekaterina Kulinicheva is a third-year Ph.D. student in Art History at Northwestern University. She studies global modernism and the avant-garde with a focus on materiality and the object and is particularly interested in clothing and printed fabrics and how politics and economic management shape artistic production. Her project tentatively entitled "An Empire of Wearable Experiments: Clothing, Textile, and Politics in early Post-revolutionary Russia and Uzbekistan" investigates artistic and economic exchanges between different regions of Soviet Union and puts emphasis on multinational aspect of well-known Soviet experiments in new material culture development which was never explored before.
